Remembering Ambassador William H. Luers, Defender of Democracy and Friend to Czech Freedom

AFoCR mourns the passing of Ambassador William H. Luers, a distinguished American diplomat, cultural leader, and lifelong advocate for democratic values. He died on May 11, 2025, at the age of 95. As U.S. Ambassador to Czechoslovakia in the 1980s, Ambassador Luers played a pivotal role in supporting Václav Havel and the Czech dissident movement during the final years of Communist rule.

AFoCR Honors the Victims of Communism

On April 24, 2025, our directors, Jiri Maly and Jordon Sims, participated in the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation's 18th Annual Roll Call of Nations Wreath Laying Ceremony. This moving event honored the more than 100 million victims of communism, a stark reminder of the over 1.5 billion people still living under its oppressive rule.
