New Heritage Project “Saving and Promoting Czech American Past”
AFOCR is pleased to announce a new cultural and historical initiative titled “Saving and Promoting the Czech-American Past,” developed in cooperation with Ambassador Jaroslav Olsa Jr. , most recently former Consul General of Czechia in Los Angeles.
This project aims to preserve, document, and promote the rich legacy of Czech and Slovak communities in the United States, whose contributions have significantly shaped cultural, scientific, artistic, and civic life across generations — particularly on the American West Coast.
Following his return to Prague after diplomatic service in the United States, Ambassador Olša has been actively engaged in rescuing endangered archives, personal collections, artworks, and historical materials connected to Czech-American history. These efforts ensure that invaluable documents and artistic works are preserved for future generations and made accessible to scholars, institutions, and the public.
Results of one of these initiatives can be seen at the American Center of the US Embassy in Prague.
