Major General (Ret.) Daryl Bohac Receives Czech Republic’s Prestigious Gratias Agit Award

The American Friends of the Czech Republic proudly congratulates Major General (Ret.) Daryl Bohac, one of our officers, on being named a 2025 recipient of the Gratias Agit Award, presented by Czech Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Lipavský.

The award ceremony took place on June 26, 2025, at the Czernin Palace in Prague. The Gratias Agit Award is one of the Czech Republic’s highest honors for individuals and organizations who promote the country’s good name internationally. First established in 1997, the award recognizes exceptional contributions to cultural diplomacy, education, and international cooperation.

General Bohac, former Adjutant General of the Nebraska National Guard, has been instrumental in deepening Czech-American ties through his leadership of the U.S.–Czech State Partnership Program. His work has elevated not only military collaboration but also enduring people-to-people connections between Nebraska and the Czech Republic. In 2023, the partnership celebrated its 30th anniversary.

AFoCR is proud to see General Bohac join the ranks of several past Gratias Agit honorees with close ties to our organization, including our current and former advisors and directors:

- Wendy Luers (1997)
- Peter Rafaeli (2003)
- Petr Bísek (2005)
- Madeleine Albright (2006)
- Petr Sís (2016)
- Cecilia Rokusek (2022)
- Bohemian Benevolent and Literary Association – Joseph Balaz (2023)

AFoCR itself was honored with the Gratias Agit Award in 1998.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to General Bohac on this well-earned recognition. His leadership and dedication reflect the mission of AFoCR to preserve and advance the shared values, history, and friendship between the United States and Czechia.
