AFoCR Contributes to Reconstruction of Moravian School Damaged by September Floods

In the wake of the devastating floods that struck northern Moravia in September 2024, the American Friends of the Czech Republic (AFOCR) is continuing its support for the people of the Czech Republic.
The floods, which have been described as even more destructive than those of 1997 and 2002, wreaked havoc on homes, infrastructure, schools, and businesses. The damage is significant, with hundreds of houses destroyed and many schools, including the elementary and middle school in Česká Ves, rendered unusable.
AFoCR is committed to supporting the rebuilding efforts, and we are proud to announce that, thanks to your generosity, we focused our efforts on rebuilding the school in Česká Ves. This school serves over 350 students and was severely damaged by the floods. The building requires extensive repairs, and athletic facilities need to be rebuilt.

We are grateful to share that AFOCR’s directors have been significantly contributing to this initiative. In partnership with Nadace Via, a respected non-profit organization in the Czech Republic, we launched a fundraising campaign and provided funding specifically for the school’s rebuilding. Nadace Via has been instrumental in supporting over 9,000 projects across the Czech Republic and will ensure that all funds are directed toward this vital effort.
